After about a week or so of tweeting by a former convicted cocaine addict(Lalit Modi in college, apparently) some heartfelt objectivism by a figurehead Prime Minister(MM Singh) and some surprisingly focussed attacks in parliament by an opposition led by a demagogue (LKA), his less than effective disciples, and what would have been really funny if it wasn’t true, yes, communists (their names aren’t important they need to be stopped no matter what they call themselves) a former Undersecretary General of the UN and MoS of India has had to resign over a cricket match no less. #longrantingsentence.
Tharoor: Bowled for a Duck, couldn't complete a single term as junior minister.
I’m both fascinated and appalled about the selective speed of our justice. Modi of the Narendra variety, Sajjan Kumar, the communists, and yes, even Advani escape any punishment over their clear violations of the law, or at the very least negligence of the upkeep, thereof, and get to keep their positions of power.#longrantingsentence.
To be clear, I judged the man guilty right off. I’m sorry but no one in Indian politics is innocent or can be. I’m just that sure that the cliched Bollywood script has taken over. So I mocked him and his vague commie like scam that didn’t seem to benefit him on twitter.

Then I saw his defense on TV. It was simply refreshing to see an elitist, pretentious person speaking in clear standard English. And most of India’s politicians are easily as wealthy and certainly as pretentious, but their prose is quite shitty. Tharoor’s eloquent defense was wasted on a populace used to the sexy silence of a Narendra Modi or even the complete non-interviews by Kumar. But, of course, Tharoor wasn’t accused of being complicit in the murder of thousands, just moving money from one rich person to another. A victimless crime if there ever was one. But we knew it wouldn’t work. And, of course, while the LS has its share of criminals, Tharoor was a different kind of inmate and would simply never belong.
Hence I tweeted:

But did he listen? No. He decided to talk to the MPs. It’s like prison. On the first day you hit the biggest guy or you immediately become someone’s bitch. If Tharoor had taken a chair like I suggested and hit some BSP MP he would have been promoted and might even have become a candidate for UP CM. (Rahul Gandhi can’t be PM of UP and CM of India.)
Then our PM candidate Harish retweeted some other funny observations:

By Morning it was fairly certain that the Congress would do something both politically weak and unlikely to win them any extra votes(They’re good at this stuff) And so I mocked his impending fall from political grace.

So is this the end of Tharoor in Indian politics? Despite a penchant for pretentious politicians in English, I hope so. Firstly, we’ve still got Chidambaram. Secondly, I’m a little more concerned about the thing I tweeted on in between. These niggling things that distracted me from which rich guy got the better of which rich guy.
