Cornered by the opposition on the issue of money illegally stashed away in tax havens abroad, Congress is reportedly considering targeting the opposition with allegations of being racist and also anti-poor. Congress party leaders believe that labelling money as one or the colour is symptomatic of a deeper malaise of colour/race prejudice. Also their logic is that what makes people poor is the lack of money in their hands or pockets or wallets or wherever. And by viewing this basic need of the poor condescendingly by associating colour with money is a sign that the opposition is anti-poor according to the senior Congress sources.
“Terror has no religion. Money has no colour. Congress is pro-poor”, said lawyer turned Union Minister turned occasional poet Kapil Sibal addressing a press conference. “Repeatedly calling money ‘black’ is extremely condemnable, despicable, brazenly fair-hue-chauvinist. And it is also anti-poor”, said the Minister. He also, by a force of habit, said the usual things that there was no loss to the Government from any scam and scams were basically aimed at helping the common man to reduce his monthly bills.
Meanwhile, addressing a conference of random passersby, financial-linguist Naganath Junjunwala cautioned people about the perils of black money before adding, “All that is money is not white”. He was immediately booed by the English language connoisseur in the audience.
