Anna Hazare On a Fast Against Corruption: Things he must do Quickly

The first reaction was “Look, look a guy who doesn’t want to be CM of his road and actually cares about the people!” Hope sprung forth and everyone was all for this non-bus burning protest. We should totally draft a Jan Lokpal bill and have interesting punishments for corruption like actually having the people found guilty of “eating money“ eat the money. It’ll be hilarious to watch some one chew up Rs 10 bills. But then a bunch of other thoughts did a rail roko on my train of thought.

If Anna Hazare stood for an election, would I vote for him? Hell yeah! If Anna Hazare asked me to stop going to work, would I stop paying my loans for him? Probably not.

Anna Hazare has already lost 1.5 Kg in this campaign against corruption. VLCC might not be setting up an anti-corruption weight loss diet…but what if the great Hazare dies? Who bears the burden for the inevitable unrest? Remember that no one has voted for this man to be in charge and make decisions on our behalf…yet.

What if opportunistic leaders in Gorkhaland and Telangana do the same? What if some leaders of the Gurjars and the Jats who are okay with burning buses and trains but want reserved jobs in road transport and railways do the same?

Mindry.in’s PM in waiting suggested that Citizen journo Hrishikesh might ask for the drafting of a JanSarkar bill which provides for a Government independent of the elected Government to rule the country. Hrishikesh’s denied this but so what? He denies a bunch of things.

Harish, our PM in waiting, has also received reports that a second standard student in Bangalore is aspiring to become a member of ‘civil’ society so that he can blackmail the government to pass laws that he wants regarding PT period and that pesky “cut your nails” rule, with a clause to ban all SUPW classes.

I already had one guy be so outraged at a misinterpreted criticism at Hazare that he said I should be ashamed, I was cheap and should not even defend myself. That I should simply delete what I write. Who was I to criticize such a great man, he opined… I wondered if this is what I said “Kudos” with a hashtag to a couple of days ago.

Sharad Pawar has quit the anti-corruption GOM. But who the hell hired him in the first place? Oh, wait…we did. Shtuppid we is. We need someone else to vote for.

If Anna Hazare and those he vouched for stood for an election, would I get off my butt and vote for them? Hell yes, I might even campaign for them.
If Anna Hazare or his “movement” asks me to stop going to work, or look the other way when my subordinates don’t show up for work…would I do it? Probably not.

This protest is fine, but it needs to not become a civil disobedience movement . We are not ruled by the British anymore. Which means, if this protest continues for a lot longer it runs the risk of turning into a mass protest against voters. “They’re such idiots voters…who do they think they are anyway? Voting for the government.”
