Mindry.in’s arch enemies, the greeting card companies, celebrated one of their days of victory yesterday. We had no intention of supporting this day so we now we just document the aftermath from afar.
39% rated the Oedipus Trilogy as the dumbest gift on Mother's Day. Laundry followed closely at 35% and Sarcasm rounded off the Top 3 at 26%
1. Forbes surveys allegedly showed that copies of the Oedipus Trilogy were the least sold. In fact, one bookstore had a dozen or so copies returned. The lone person who did gift this book to his mother on Mother’s Day was shot in the knee and cast for the remake of Psycho.
2. Baskets full of laundry+a card came in a close second to copies of Antigone and it’s two prequels. The cards from a secretive greeting card company currently pioneering “wednesday” as greeting card day and held by the CIA and FBI to be responsible for the travesty that is Friendship Day read “Happy Mother’s Day, now do my laundry, please.”
3. Sarcasm ranked 3rd in list of dumb presents on Mother’s Day.26% of mothers across the world rated cynicism and sarcasm related to greeting card companies as the dumbest gift on Mother’s Day. One irritated mother said, “We don’t care if some greeting card company makes hundreds of dollars and funnels that to fund some covert operation in poor countries(UNICEF). We want our day and a good present. Now go buy me something I raised you better than that.” Yes, mum.
