Microsoft Buys Skype: Is Bill Gates Taking This Charity Thing Too Far?

Microsoft just bought Skype this week for $8.5 billion. We all know Bill Gates after ruining and screwing over his friends for decades is now into this charity thing, but $8.5 billion to fight mediocrity among IT companies?

Skype is such a piece of sh#! software. It behaves like a virus half the frigging time. Ask anyone who likes looking at code (I’m not one of these perverts) but they’ll tell you Skype is ugly. Is Skype currently owned by someone with malaria or starving Sudanese?

Maybe the entire board, including the design guy of Skype is busy fighting AIDS and that’s why Gates decided to help ‘em out? What other possible reason could there be?

One may ask why I’m discounting the user base and alleged revenue that Skype brings in. Well, Microsoft has a bigger user base and if they’re paying $8.5 billion, they got more revenue.

Why does this piss me off so? What do I care? Well, quite bluntly, the world is not going to be saved by poor people. Come on, billionaires, get your act together.
