O for Opple: Mamatha Non-commital on Reintroducing the letter “A” to Bengal

No real changes have been committed to in Bengal.

While Mamatha Bannerjee has won a massive land-slide dislodging the communist parties in West Bengal, many fear this is not the end of communism in Bengal. Mamatha came to power largely rejuvenated by a vitriolic protest against a car factory that would’ve built the most affordable car in India, if not the world.

More importantly, the communists have allowed Bengalis to butcher hunt down the letter “A” mercilessly. The letter “V” is also under serious threat. Mammatha (Mommotho) to ardent communists, has made no actual promise to change any of this.

Supporters, however, insist that “bowels will be protected”, even if they’re rather non-committal on the whole development and progress thing.
