BSY and HDK at Dharmasthala...Jumbo Circus offered a better show any day

I remember as a kid hoards of people gathering in the middle of nowhere on a rain-soaked day. There were large tents lots of vans, a few press gnats and a sea of umbrellas. It was for a circus. There were elephants and tigers and lions. Tickets were 50 bucks a pop.

The same thing happened today. In an era where most circuses are banned. There were loads of press vans on a rainy day in the middle of nowhere*. A sea of umbrellas, and at its shore there is a circus. But this one is the BSY and HDK circus. There are thugs and sloganeers. Tickets are Rs 1 crore of the taxpayer’s money or whatever it costs having 800 cops deployed at a temple no one wants to demolish or build in Dharmasthala of all places.

The temple at Dharmasthala is often used by wives and husbands to “swear fidelity” to their suspicious spouses. I am now deeply suspicious of both BSY and HDK…my very errant “servants”. Oh, and bring the Jumbo Circus back. It was far more entertaining and less humans were hurt in those performances.

*I’m from Bangalore. As far as I’m concerned Dharmasthala is the middle of nowhere. And the fate of who rules this city ought not to be decided in front of some priest there. As a snooty Brahmin type, I’m also a little miffed that the temple authorities let this joke play out. But I didn’t vote for them, so they’re welcome to their madness on their time and dime.
