Indian Blogosphere And Twitterati Show Why India Gets Shit Leaders: Coverage On Pak Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar

Hina Rabbani Khar is merely another acceptable face of Pak terrorism. Okay, her face is more than acceptable, but it doesn't change diddly.

Indians have long been aware that mainstream media is a communist bastion that will tow the government line or those of its foreign investors. Yes, you can take that blanket condemnation of everyone who has a chance of making mindry.in profitable to the bank.

But it was downright depressing to watch its satirists speak of Hina Rabbani Khar, i.e., Pakistan’s acceptable face to represent the narco-terrorist set up in that country. There was merely talk of her $7,000 bag, her monotone clothes and the fact that she wasn’t as ugly as Shah Mehmud Khureshi. India’s twitter elite continued to remain superficial in their analysis for days.

While there was no surprise that a ridiculously misguided mass-circulation newspaper ran its “give peace a chance” bull-shit ad campaign (which was yanked the first time round because of widespread derision and a brief spot of murder from Pakistan) there was dismay as allegedly intelligent Internet publications focused on her “hotness”.

When your “radical underground” and “fearless retweeters of the truth” talk only of her Roberto Cavali whatsits, you know your country lacks a certain national awareness. Even “new India which will provide us with new leadership in a few decades” failed us miserably.

During Ms Khar’s visit there were at least 3 militant attacks in Kashmir, and several civilian casualties. These things weren’t actions of rogue elements. They were sent by the Pakistani Army. Two weeks before that a bomb injured a dozen local police, seriously injuring and maiming 5. And we want to talk about her bag which costs 17 lakhs in her debt-ridden devastated doomed land.

But she may not have had to pay much for it, since her country’s mints print most of our counterfeit currency. Stands to reason she or whoever paid for it, did so in fake Indian rupees. And we talk of her pearls.

Oh, and remember that bomb that went off in that jewellery market in Mumbai…again? The same people who paid for that paid for her pearls. That happened less than three weeks ago. Please continue to talk of her classy strings of pearls.

There is a single thread that runs through these incidents. That India is unprepared to confront the people who run Pakistan and call them on their bullshit. It’s the same kind of dithering that led to the creation of this havoc-inspiring, hate-filled, hopelessly-structured country called Pakistan in the first place. 300,000 people died and 14 million people were displaced because of that dithering. And today we prove to ourselves that we are the same nation that allowed partition.

We have indoor plumbing now, a cure for small pox, a thing that kicks radio’s ass, a thing which kicks that thing’s ass and hosts twitter, but we are still the same dithering unfocused society. We will speak of the murderer’s daughter’s good looks, shiny bag, her pearls and sartorial sensibilities as we are stabbed repeatedly with a blade so sharp that we don’t seem to feel the cuts. We deserve what we get. We deserve the leaders we get.

P.S. You may be accustomed to me posting funnier articles, but I can’t not comment the biggest joke that’s been played on us this year.
